Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup cornstarch
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 egg
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
Oil for frying
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, thyme, celery salt, salt, and cayenne pepper.
In another bowl, beat the egg and mix in the buttermilk.
Dip the chicken pieces in the buttermilk mixture, then dredge them in the flour mixture, pressing the coating onto the chicken.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the chicken pieces in batches until they are golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), about 12-15 minutes.
Drain the fried chicken on paper towels.
