Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup diced green pepper
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup provolone cheese, sliced
1/2 cup beef broth
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, milk, diced onion, green pepper, sliced mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well blended.
Layer the Meatloaf: Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan, forming an even layer. Place the slices of provolone cheese on top of this layer, ensuring a small border is left around the edges to prevent cheese from leaking.
Add the Remaining Meat Mixture: Cover the cheese layer with the remaining meat mixture, pressing down and sealing the edges to encase the cheese completely.
Make the Sauce: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard until smooth. Pour this sauce evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
Bake the Meatloaf: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
Rest and Serve: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, making for a more tender and flavorful meatloaf.
Enjoy! Serve hot and savor the delicious fusion of Philly cheesesteak and classic meatloaf flavors.
